I made this drawing with my two teddy bears - Edward and Humphrey - in mind.
From the day my husband, then boyfriend, brought me Edward, we gave him a character and built a story on him. Then came Humphrey, and the story grew.
Edward and Humphrey love Christmas. They look forward to Christmas every day of their stuffie lives. They count days until Christmas,
"It's .... Christmas Eve, Eve, Eve, .... Eve, Eve, Eve. Chris....mas Eve, Eve, Eve, .... Eve, Eve, Eve"
The chant goes on and on, as many days before the next Christmas.
You will see that there's no present under the tree. There's no stocking hanging over the fireplace, and no milk and cookies for Santa, either.
Edward and Humphrey don't expect their Santa Claus to bring them gifts. They want Christmas just for Christmas itself.
We've made the teddy bears pretty precocious and have them run around creating troubles. However, there is just a couple of days of a year that Edward and Humphrey will be at peace with themselves.
All is quiet. Not even Edward and Humphrey are stirring. Still they sit, awaiting Christmas.
